VF NORTHERN Europe Limited, whose registered office is at 15, Atholl Crescent, Edinburgh, EH3 8HA, United Kingdom (hereinafter the "Promotion Company") is organising a contest called "Share the stage" (the "Contest").

Entry into the Contest is free and no purchase is necessary, however the Contest requires participants to have access to the internet.

By entering into the Contest, participants will be deemed to have agreed to be bound by these Contest Rules.

Contest theme:

The concept of the Contest is for up and coming artists to submit their music for a chance to open the live concert of hip hop artist Schoolboy Q at his House of Vans London concert on 27 September 2018.


Participants can enter the Contest between 00:00 CET on 12 July 2018 and 23:59 CET on 12 August 2018 (the "Promotional Period").


Entry into this Contest is open only to legal residents of United Kingdom, Italy, France, Germany, Ireland, Hungary, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Switzerland, Island, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Portugal, Denmark, Croatia, Cyprus, Malta, Greece, Bulgaria, Estonia, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and Luxembourg, who are at least eighteen (18) years of age (hereinafter “Entrant/s”).


To enter the Contest during the Promotional Period (set out above) Entrants will first have to visit the website houseofvanslondon/Sharethestage, and fill out the registration form (which requires the submission of the Entrant's name, surname, date of birth, email address, telephone number, full mailing/postal address, country and their stage/band name if applicable).

Entries into the Contest can be made by solo artists or by bands. If an Entrant is entering a band into the Contest, the registration form completed in accordance with the above is sufficient to enter the band into the Contest - each band member does not need to register separately, although an Entrant entering the Contest and completing the registration form on behalf of a band will have to provide the full details of all band members (name, surname, date of birth, country) for the entry to be valid.

Each Entrant shall have only one (1) Entry into the Contest. Band members cannot enter the Contest in a solo capacity and solo artists cannot enter as part of a band.

Incomplete or incorrect information will not be considered and will render the relevant Entrant's entry and participation null and void.

If an Entrant is discovered to have given incorrect information in entering the Contest, such Entrant (and their other band members (if applicable)) will be immediately disqualified and/or removed from the Contest. Such incorrect information may include, but is not limited to, supplying false personal details or incorrect or incomplete details of other band members.

Once the registration process has been successfully completed, Entrants will be asked to upload their music track and provide the link to their SoundCloud or Youtube account (hereinafter “Submission”). Maximum one Submission per Entrant.

Each compliant Submission approved by the Promotion Company will be considered an entry into the Contest (“Entry”).

All Entrants will be able to take part in the Contest by sending one Submission during the Promotional Period.

Entrants agree that their/the band's right to win a prize under these Contest Rules depends on the results of the Entrants (and its band members') participation in the Contest.

If an Entrant is entering the Contest on behalf of himself/herself and other band members, the Entrant hereby represents and warrants that he/she has full right, power and authority to complete the registration form and make the Submission behalf of all his/her band- and the completion of the registration form and making of the Submission will not violate any pre-existing agreement with any third party or any law or regulation.

Entrants entering the Contest on behalf of himself/herself and other band members, agree that they will function as the Promotion Company's sole point of contact with his/her band-mates.

Submission requirements

A Submission must meet the following requirements to allow entry into the Contest:


All Entrant (and any band members (if applicable)) must be aged 18 years old or over and resident in the country selected in the registration form. Entrants may upload one Submission during the Promotional Period.

No Entrant may win more than one (1) prize. If a band enters the Contest and wins a prize, the prize will be shared by the band.

Entrants( and any band members (if applicable)) not resident in one of the eligible countries listed above will not be allowed to enter this Contest.

Employees of the Promotion Company, employees of all controlled, affiliated or controlling companies of the Promotion Company, and other people involved in the organisation and management of the Contest may not enter the Contest.


By uploading their Submission, Entrants accept these Contest Rules in their entirety and declare that:

  1. they (along with other band members (if appropriate)) are the author and owner of all copyright and intellectual property rights of the Submission uploaded and that the Submission is the result of their own performance and have not been copied or reproduced from any other source or third parties;
  2. the Submission complies with all applicable laws in England and Wales;
  3. the Submission is not in violation of any laws and in particular that the Submission is not a reproduction and does not infringe upon any intellectual property rights, moral rights, copyrights, third party personal data protection rights, publication rights and in general terms that the Track respects the provisions of law in regard to copyrights and any other regulations or laws in force;
  4. on behalf of himself/herself and his/her band members (if applicable), they hereby grant to the Promotion Company the limited right to make one electronic/audio/visual recording of the performance undertaken by the winners with the understanding that such recording will be used by the Promotion Company solely in conjunction with administration of the Contest. The Entrant on behalf of himself/herself and its band members (if applicable), understand and agree that he/she and their band members (as applicable) will not receive any compensation in conjunction with such recordation of the Entrant's/the Entrant's band’s performance and that the Entrant/his/her band shall not have any right of review or approval of such recording except where otherwise indicated;
  5. on behalf of himself/herself and his/her band members (if applicable), they:
    • grant to the Promotion Company the non-exclusive, irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable right and license to use, perform, exhibit, reproduce and exploit the electronic/audio/visual recording of the performance undertaken by the winners for commercial and advertising purposes in any and all distribution channels/venue/media, now known or hereafter devised, without compensation or any right of review or approval;
    • waive any “Moral Rights of Authors” or any similar rights in the performance and/or in the recording of same;
    • further understand that nothing in these Contest Rules in any way obligates the Promotion Company to make any such use of the recording and, by refraining from such use, the Promotion Company will not incur any liability to him/her and/or his/her band-mates (if applicable).
  6. they (along with other band members (if appropriate) hereby grant to the Promotion Company a non-exclusive, royalty free licence to play, use, adapt, publish, modify, distribute and reproduce in whole or in part, on a worldwide basis and to incorporate it into other works, in any form, media or technology now known or later developed, including, but not limited to, on any and all Internet media, including in the Contest gallery and on Promotion Company’s website or related websites and social networking platforms (i.e., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest etc.), for any purpose whatsoever, including for promotional, advertising or marketing purposes (except where prohibited by law), without any right for the Entrant (along with other band members( if appropriate) to be compensated;
  7. they are wholly liable for the Submission uploaded and will consequently indemnify the Promotion Company against any liability it incurs as a result of the Submission failing to comply with the conditions set out in these Contest Rules;
  8. they agree to take part in any reasonable publicity required by the Promotion Company, should they win the Prize available under the Contest;
  9. on behalf of himself/herself and his/her band members (if applicable), they hereby agree to the use of their name, photograph, likeness, voice and/or any other indicia of my identity by the Promotion Company and its designees in conjunction with the recording of the performance undertaken by the winners, without notification, review or approval or compensation. If their band will participate in the Contest, they further agree, without compensation and upon the Promotion Company's request, to use commercially reasonable efforts to assist the Promotion Company in securing a similar grant of rights from each of my band-mates;
  10. they and their band members are not currently signed to a music recording or like agreement with a record label. 


Every uploaded Submission will be moderated by the Promotion Company. The Promotion Company reserves its right to refuse entry to Entrants whose Submission:

  1. are out of keeping with the concept of the Contest in the Promotion Company's sole opinion (including content which the Promotion Company reasonably deems offensive and/or inappropriate);
  2. are designed to promote or publicise any brand, product, service or commercial activity apart from those of the Promotion Company and/or that are unrelated to the Contest;
  3. contain content which has been copied from other sources;
  4. contain content not related to the Contest theme.
Only if the entry is judged suitable by the Promotion Company's moderators, shall the Entrant who submitted the Submission be entered into the Contest. The Promotion Company may at its sole and absolute discretion, publish some Submissions to its web site, social networks or any other media.


On or about 20 August 2018 all Submissions will be judged by panel (which will include at least 1 judge who is not related to the Promotion Company). Submissions will be judged based on the following judging criteria: (a) Originality 30%, (b) Creativity 30%, (c) projected appeal to Promotion Company's audience 20%, and (d) technical quality 20%.  The panel shall select 10 Submissions to progress to the next round (the "Progressing Submissions").

On or about 16 September 2018, the American artist known by the name of "Schoolboy Q" will judge the Progressing Submissions and select 2 winners based on the following judging criteria; (a) creativity 40%; (b) originality 40%; and (c) technical quality 20%. The 2 winners can be either a solo artist or a band. If a band wins then this shall constitute 1 winner for the purposes of these Contest Rules.

Schoolboy Q will also determine five (5) runner-ups in order of preference based on the criteria listed above. A runner-up shall only be used if a winner fails to claim their prize in accordance with these Contest Rules or is disqualified from the Contest for any reason.

The selection of the winners and runner-ups is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

In the event of not enough Entrants to award the prize, the Promotion Company reserves its right not to award such prize.

The prize consists of the opportunity for the winning artist or band to open the live concert of Schoolboy Q at his House of Vans London concert on 27 September 2018 with a live stage performance of their own music which may last up to 30 minutes.

Included in the prize for the winning artist and all members of the winning band (if applicable): return flight from closest international airport to winners’ home, shuttle pick up and drop off from destination airport, accommodation at 3-star hotel or equivalent, breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided by the Promotion Company during the trip. The prize does not include travel between the winner’s home and the airport, travel insurance, personal expenditure, compensation or any additional costs, other than where explicitly mentioned in these Contest Rules.

Winners (and all their band members (if applicable)) must be able to travel between 26 September 2018 and 28 September 2018 on the dates designated by Promotion Company or Prize will be forfeited and may be awarded to an alternate winner. Promotion Company is not liable for delays, cancellation or unforeseen events related to the flights and trip. The Promoting Company is not responsible if the Schoolboy Q concert is delayed, postponed or cancelled due to events outside of its reasonable control, in which case that portion of Prize is forfeited in its entirety and no substitution will be provided, except as in Promoting Company’s sole discretion. In such event, Promoting Company shall have the option, in its sole discretion, to substitute a different prize activity.

In selecting musical works for the performance, winners acknowledge that the Promotion Company as a business entity has a zero tolerance policy as to the publication of materials that demean, attack or promote discrimination based on race, gender, religion, national origin, physical or mental condition, sexual orientation, age (or that are otherwise hateful).

Winners agree to provide the Promotion Company with a complete list of requested elements for the performance; but, winners understand and agree that the Promotion Company will use commercially reasonable efforts to accommodate such requests and the Promotion Company will have no liability should it not be able to fulfill such request(s) for any reason. Winners further acknowledge and agree that they will be solely responsible for setting up the instruments for the performance, following all appropriate instructions of the Promotion Company and venue personnel. Winners also agree not to interfere with any other musical performers before, during, or after their performances.


Winners will be notified of their win by e-mail (using the e-mail address provided by Entrants upon registration) within two (2) working days from the selection of winners (which shall take place on or about 16/09/2018).

Winners will have two (2) days from being notified of their win to reply to the notification of win accepting the prize and providing all the information requested by the Promotion Company.

If any potential winner within two (2) calendar days of first notification attempt cannot be contacted, fail to provide the information requested, if any prize or notification of win is returned as undeliverable, if potential winner rejects his/her prize, or in the event of noncompliance with these Contest Rules and requirements, such prize will be forfeited and may be awarded to a runner-up.

The first runner-up will be contacted in the same manner as described above and, if necessary, the process repeated until the prize is finally awarded to a runner-up.

In the event that having followed the awarding process described above, a prize cannot be given to a winner or runner-up, the Promotion Company reserves its right not to award said prize.

Upon prize forfeiture, no compensation will be given.

The Promotion Company reserves the right to require winners to provide a valid form of identification proving their age and identity before receiving their prize.  Any identity verification document produced must be in the name of the person who has entered the Contest.


The Promotion Company will be collecting personal data about Entrants online, for the purpose of administrating the Contest in accordance with its privacy policy. 

By participating in the Contest, Entrants hereby agree to the Promotion Company’s collection and usage of their personal information and acknowledge that they have read and accepted the Promotion Company’s privacy policy.

Uses of personal data received in the course of the Contest are subject to applicable laws and the privacy policy found on


The Promotion Company reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, extend or suspend this Contest or its rules should (in its sole discretion) virus, bugs, non-authorized human intervention, fraud or other causes beyond its reasonable control corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness or proper conduct of the Contest. In such case, the Promotion Company may select the winner from all eligible Entries received prior to and/or after (if appropriate) the action taken by the Promotion Company.

Upon suspension or cancellation the Promotion Company cannot be held liable for any expenses uncured or damages suffered, whether direct, indirect or consequential, and the Promotion Company shall not be obliged to organize any alternative Contest or offer any alternative prize.

Proof of submission will not be deemed to be proof of receipt by the Promoting Company.

Multiple Entrants are not permitted. Any attempt by any Entrant to obtain more than the stated number of Entries by using multiple/different email accounts, or any other methods will void that Entrant's Entries and that Entrant may be disqualified. Use of any automated system to submit Entries is prohibited and will result in disqualification.  In the event of a dispute, the authorized account holder of the email address used to register on the platform will be deemed to be the Entrant. Each winner may be required to show proof of being the authorized account holder.

The Promotion Company may prohibit an Entrant from participating in the Contest or winning a prize if, in its sole discretion, it determines that said Entrant is attempting to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest by cheating, hacking, deception, or other unfair playing practices (including the use of automated quick Entry programs) or intending to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other Entrants or Promotion Company representatives.

The Promotion Company is not responsible for any technical problems or human error that may result in a Submission not being received or being lost or damaged or for any destruction or alteration of, or unauthorized access to, Contest Entries.

The Promotion Company reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of Entries and Entrants (including an Entrant's identity, age and country of residence) and to disqualify any Entry that is not in accordance with these rules.

Save where the Promotion Company has been negligent or fraudulent, the Promotion Company shall in no way be liable for any injuries, losses, damages or expenses suffered or incurred by any winner of the Contest, as a direct or indirect result of participating in this Contest and/or accepting a prize.

Acceptance of these Rules is a condition of entry into the Contest and entry indicates full acceptance of these Rules.

The Promotion Company’s decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into except with the winners to notify them that they have won and to provide the prizes.

In the event of unforeseen circumstances, or circumstances outside of the Promotion Company reasonable control, the Promotion Company reserves the right to amend, withdraw or substitute any part of this Contest and/or prize for a reasonable alternative.

The prizes are not transferable, and no cash or other alternative arrangements will be offered.

Failure by the Promotion Company to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.

In case of any discrepancy between the English and the translated versions of these Contest Rules, the English version prevails.

The Promotion Company shall make the name of the prize winners (including all band members) available upon an entrant's request for 60 days after the Promotion Period has closed.

If any term of these rules shall be found to be void or contrary to law, such term shall be deemed to be severable from the other terms and provisions herein, and the remainder of the rules shall remain in effect.

These rules shall be governed by English law and the courts of England and Wales shall have non-exclusive jurisdiction.
